Welcome to Ariel's world - the world of Atlantica! Ariel, The Little Mermaid, lives in an underwater palace called Atlantica, but would rather trade her fins in for feet, to have the opportunity to find true love on land. Ariel believes that she has what it takes to make it as a human who lives on land, and feels that she is ready, willing and able to take on the obstacles that she will undoubtedly encounter. However, simply believing in your abilities does not make them actualities. Ariel will have to show great determination in order to get what she has been searching for - true love. Throughout this film, there are a multitude of themes that originate from religious and Christian themes and ideas. Whether we are dealing with a character or a situation occurring in the film, it is easy to see that the Christian faith is easily depicted and represented. Throughout the film, we deal with the story of Adam and Eve, and their dealings in the Garden of Eden, and dive into the Christian ideals exposed within the characters. "The Little Mermaid" is an amazing children's movie that also embodies religious and Christian ideas and themes. It not only conveys a story of love and triumph, but also multiple religious ideas along with it. Hold onto your fins as we swim our way through the gadgets and gizmos, the whosits and whatsits, and the dinglehoppers as we find out what Atlantica really is!
